DIY - Knotted Bracelet

This is a really fun and easy bracelet for you to make at home this summer!

All you need is:

  • Embroidery Thread ( a few colours preferably)
  • Button (Optional)
  • Tape or Clipboard (Something to hold it in place)
To start you want to cut your threads into the right size, you can change this according to the amount of colours and width you'd like to use. You will need at least 6 strands of thread (3 if you're doing a button closure as this will loop over to form 6 strands). Each strand should be around 50 inches long, can be 25 inches if not doing a button closure.

Now that you have your chosen strings all cut to length (I used 4 different colours in my example). Read this tutorial to know exactly how to begin off your bracelet and the closures (http://randomjoshyt.blogspot.com/2017/06/diy-friendship-bracelet-closures.html).

Underneath the knot you have made from beginning your bracelet, you will want to start off by choosing one of the colours you wish to begin with. I have chosen the red in my example as you can see, I have separated this strand from all of the rest.

Now, with this strand in hand, you will want to create some basic knots around the other strands you have. To do this, you will take the strand of choice and place it on top of the other strands in a four (4) shape as seen in the diagram.

You now want to take the loose end of your chosen strand and wrap it back within itself in the hole of the four. You can now pull this tight and drag it to the top knot you used to begin the design.

You will repeat this for as many times as you wish, making sure that each knot is very tight and you will slowly start to notice that there will be a spiral forming where the knots are ending. When you want to swap out colours, you will simply place your strand back into the main pile of them and then select your next colour and continue the same process as before with the knotting.

You will do this, continually changing colours, until you have reached the desired length of your bracelet. You want to tie a knot, like the beginning one in your design to seal it from falling open. You can now follow this tutorial to see how to finish off your bracelet based on what option you chose (http://randomjoshyt.blogspot.com/2017/06/diy-friendship-bracelet-closures.html).

You now have a rocking bracelet! Please leave me some images of how your versions turned out! :D
