Three Apps To Get You Fit This Summer!

With summer fast approaching, and I for one have definitely not achieved my body goals! We all have our own summer body goals, but often finding the motivation to actually achieve that lacks! That's why I'm here to talk about and review three different apps which I have been testing out for the past week!

Moves

The first and probably main app of them all is called Moves. This app I actually found one day while browsing through facebook and noticed that they had a little connect icon for Moves in their side menu.

So what exactly is Moves? Well, Move is quite the generic free application for fitness, but it essentially works in the background to monitor your step count, the routes you've taken, active time, calories burnt, all of this in a simple to view and understand display.

You can use this to track how your active times weigh up to your not so active times. It also allows you to set exactly where you are at any given time, so if you are at work, you set it as work and it will still count all your active time within that area but it visually shows it as work so you can divide everything up. It also calculates commuting times, so when you are traveling around in a car or on the train, it senses that and will set it as a commute (Grey). This is really useful so you can fully divide exactly how much time you are spending in any given location.

Moves isn't specifically for walking though, it does also track when you go for a cycle or a run and separate them accordingly into their own unique bubbles so you can see how much you've done for cycling and how much you have ran that day.

Now move comes with a lot of different connected apps also which you can download also for free, which is where I found the next two apps I will be discussing.

ActivityDiary

The first of the two connected apps happened to be an activity diary. Now at first I like you probably are was like, seriously? Is this even necessary? And the answer to that is, not fully, however it does come with a lot of perks. The basic workings of the ActivityDiary are to display the information from your Move app, in a simple to read timeline of events. It gives a breakdown of every little small session so you know how many steps you took from that small walk around the block, or how many calories you burnt from walking to the shop.

It also is super easy to go back and compare how you did several weeks before in its calendar user interface design. This means you can easily scroll to whatever date you need and find what it is you are looking for.

I personally find that this is more of a behind the scenes, useful at times app for me to use. Simply as it isn't directly motivating for me but it is good to have this kind of information there so it can be viewed at a later date.

Wokamon

Now, of course, I had to save the best till last. This app will not be motivating for everyone but it definitely works well for me. As you can possibly tell by the name of the app, it is a version of "Pokemon" which is a popular game. It involves you having a creature which you walk to gain it experience and level it up so it can gain you more crystals. Crystals are earned by tapping the screen of your device like any generic tapper games. The crystals are used to buy accessories which help your creature earn more experience per step.

It for me is a highly addictive game which makes me want to walk more in order to get bigger faster. The app does include online friends which means you can play and compete with your friends meaning even more fun! You can all feel free to add me and compete with me by adding "Joshua Pooley".

The app offers the perfect balance of working in the background so you don't have to constantly be on it to progress to also allowing for further progression by opening it up and interacting with it.The in-app achievements also help to motivate you further into walking more.

This app luckily doesnt require you to always carry your phone around with you. You can sync it to one of your fitbit or jawbone devices and link it all together making it a lot easier to use.
